Classes at The Southern Needle are designed to teach the beginner knitter, crocheter or small loom weaving. There are also classes available to challenge the more experienced crafter to make something at an intermediate level, or to learn specific techniques or stitches.

Scheduled Saturday shop classes are  listed per topic and class. Fees will be listed for that class and may vary according to instructor and skill level.

 LESSONS
Classes are $30.00 per hour for one on one instruction.

Drop ins for help that last more than 10 minutes
will be charged a one hour lesson fee.
Two hour sessions is 60.00 
Three hour session is $80.00;

            $125.00 WILL BE CHARGED FOR 4-5  beginner lessons 

 

Beginner classes usually involve 4-5 lessons that include learning to read a yarn label, cast on; knit and purl; yarnover; knit stitches together and binding off. Basic pattern reading is also included in the lessons. Dishcloths are the first form of knitting so that the student gets comfortable creating a simple project that is the foundation for more complex items and patterns.

 
 
Crochet lessons are geared in the same manner. Easy first crochet stitches such as single chain; single crochet; double crochet; pattern reading and how to work in the round as well as in a straight line.


 each lesson is noted as to how long the lesson lasted and what was taught during that lesson.

Our social media and calendar is usually done monthly and gives a monthly and seasonal outline of the topics, stitches or special classes that are being planned for the shop.

    REPAIR SERVICES 

ITEMS THAT ARE IN NEED OF REPAIR WILL BE ASSESSED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. AN ESTIMATE AND TIMELINE WILL BE SET OUT WITH THE CUSTOMER, AND 50% DOWN IS REQUIRED BEFORE ANY REPAIR OR MATERIALS ARE PURCHASED IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR. NO GUARANTEE IS GIVEN THAT THE REPAIR WILL MAKE THE ITEM "LOOK" ORIGINAL OR LIKE NEW. EVERY EFFORT IS MADE TO PERFORM THE REPAIR IN A TIMELY FASHION AND TO THE VERY BEST OF OUR ABILITIES.  OUTSIDE SOURCES WILL BE USED WHEN NECESSARY.

We are now listed with Loose ends Projects. Items are submitted by family or friends and finished and returned to the family. Strong International Volunteer organization that helps complete the stitched project.  Knit, crochet, quilt, weave, needlepoint etc. Matched to a local volunteer to finish. Any work done by original person is maintained and protected.
